Past or Present?

All too often, protective parts of ourselves move in to protect our well-being when faced with real or perceived danger. These parts have been created as a matter of necessity (to protect something precious about ourselves) or passed down from our family of origin (shared familial beliefs).

These protective parts are reliable and typically have decades of experience doing what they do!

What may be challenging about this is that these protective parts are typically working from the history they were created in. They don't seem to grow alongside us. As a result, we find ourselves stuck in old patterns of relating to ourselves and others that no longer serve the system and, in practice, cause more harm than good.

What might life be like if you could meet these protectors and introduce them to who you are today? How might this dynamic change how you live your life?
